All vids submitted are judged under these three categories.
Best Video - Overall best video in editing, structure, execution of story or purpose, music use, etc. Hit me with the 'WOW!' factor!
Best Editing - Vid with the most skillful editing. Cuts and transitions are clean, and the clips chosen fit the tone of the scene and flow of the video.
Judge's Choice - Entirely subjective. This goes to my favorite vids, regardless of skill or quality. (1-3 per round)
Pick as many categories as you feel are appropriate for you video.
Best Action: Fast-paced and intense. Lots of action content, fights, explosions, etc. Timing/editing is especially important here.
Best Effects: Best use of visual (possibly sound) effects (coloring/b&w, filters, transitions, flashes, etc), where they are used to enhance the story or mood.
Keep in mind, more is not always better. If extra effects make it difficult to hear or see the actual footage or interfere with the viewing of the video, think carefully about overdoing it. Appropriate use and moderation is the key.
Best Drama: The most powerfully charged video where the character’s situation or a series of events are highly emotional, tragic, or turbulent.
Best Angst: Emotionally intense. Something that pulls at the heartstrings. Despair, frustration, heartbreak, etc.
Best AU: Alternate universes, crossovers, reworked storylines.
Best Character: Focus is a character-centric storyline or character study.
Best Trailer: The best edited and composed professional-style trailer or promo for a TV series or movie.
Best Music Use: The best lyrical matching AND/OR display of how a musical score or song can enhance the video concept or story by working together smoothly and keeping appropriate flow, mood, and pacing.
Best Comedy: Best quirky, funny, or just plain cracked vid.
Most Original: Something unusual or not often seen; Unique or different concept, style, song use, etc.
Best Ensemble: Shows multiple characters and how or why they work together or in unison as a group in the end.
Best Overview: The video that best covers the concept of a film, series, season or episode in a broad aspect.
Best Relationship: The best look at the relationship between friends, family, lovers, enemies, etc. Best captures the aspects, strengths and/or weaknesses of that relationship. Non-canon couples go here until they are officially a couple.
Best Romance: Focused on the LOVE. Can be fluffy or intense. But this is mainly for couples who are romantically an item
or have been an item in the past. Must be romantic feelings from both sides.
Best Tearjerker: Make me cry.
Best Storyline: Edited to tell a clear story with a beginning, middle and end. Should be told clearly enough to be understood without much outside assistance or description.
Best Fluff: Video that doesn't necessarily have a clear concept or purpose, but just makes you feel happy and all warm and fuzzy inside.
Most Haunting: Something that makes the senses tingle and lingers with you. Could be haunting atmosphere or story, or both.
